Green Tara, also known as Khadiravani Tara, is a female bodhisattva and a manifestation of the Tara goddess in Tibetan Buddhism. She is considered to be the embodiment of compassion, and is often depicted as a green-skinned goddess, sitting in a relaxed and peaceful posture, with her right hand extended in a gesture of generosity and her left hand in the mudra of teaching. She is often shown wearing a crown of gold and precious stones, and is adorned with rich garments and jewelry.
Green Tara is considered to be a protector goddess, and is invoked for her ability to grant swift and powerful aid to those in need. She is believed to have the power to overcome obstacles, to grant wishes, and to protect her followers from harm. Her name "Khadiravani" means "she who is the lady of the Khadira forest" and is associated with the power to grant swift aid.
