Completed in 1252, the actual bronze statue of the Great Buddha of the Kōtoku in Kamakura is a 44 feet tall. It resides in the Kotaku temple, south of Tokyo bay.⁠ The original temple was swept away by the great tsunami of 1495, but the Great Buddha weathered the storm is a popular attraction to this day. It's the second-tallest Buddha statue in Japan.
