According to the legend, Nitta no Shiro Tadatsune was a samurai warrior who lived during the Kamakura period in Japan. One day, while hunting in the forests surrounding Mount Fuji, he entered a cave and stumbled upon a beautiful goddess with her dragon. The goddess was the deity of Mount Fuji, known as Konohana Sakuya Hime.
As a reward for his bravery, the goddess granted Nitta no Shiro Tadatsune one wish. He wished for her hand in marriage, and the goddess agreed. The two of them were married in a grand ceremony at the base of Mount Fuji, and Nitta no Shiro Tadatsune lived the rest of his life with the goddess as his wife.
